About us

Two generations, one idea. Or how a walk in a meadow started Velvetto.
It all began and originated quite inconspicuously in the autumn of 2025. I was walking with my son and our pack of three "tiny" dogs through the meadows of Říčany in Prague-East (our shared photo from this time is at the end of this article;-). As we walked, my then barely fifteen-year-old son Marcel told me about what his generation was living for. He spoke about how important it is for young people to feel confident, to have their own image, style, and therefore to smell good. Branded perfumes are a symbol of self-confidence and status for young people, but at the same time, they face a harsh reality – luxurious designer glass bottles cost too much money all at once, and for many teenagers, they are simply unattainable with typical pocket money.
During our walk, Marcel enthusiastically explained his new idea – how he wanted to make expensive original perfumes more accessible to his peers by buying them in bulk and decanting them into smaller bottles. As a father and a manager-entrepreneur, I listened to him, initially with a significant dose of professional skepticism, but suddenly it all clicked, and it began to make sense to me. I realized that Marcel had not only identified a problem for his generation but a problem for all of us.
Connections started to flood my mind: Premium world fragrances in small, practical packaging. Practical yet luxurious perfume packaging that fits into a jeans pocket, jacket, handbag, or school or work bag. Perfume available for a few crowns a month in the form of a small sample or subscription, delivered directly to a pick-up box or mailbox. A concept that would allow young people to experiment and discover new fragrances, and adult managers to always have their favorite fragrance with them in a small practical package as a functional "confidence & impact booster" before a difficult meeting or entering a boardroom or office. Suddenly, it wasn't just a teenager's idea, but a real vision of practical "smart luxury" in the field of perfumes and personal fragrance that could be accessible to everyone.
For me personally, however, it took on an even deeper meaning. I realized that this was exactly the opportunity to build something together – father and son. For a while, I had been thinking about what I could give my son in life in this extremely rapidly changing era, where AI is expanding every day, and the age of humanoid super robots is knocking at the door. I realized that I probably wouldn't teach him how to earn a living by catching trout with his bare hands in a mountain river or cultivating a field with a hoe, nor how to build a log cabin from stone and wood in the forest, because I don't have that much experience with that. Nor would I teach him to recite the list of words spelled with "b," nor the difference between a subject and a predicate in a sentence, nor the key principles of analyzing romantic literary works, because I had long forgotten all that, and I didn't know if it would even be truly useful for him in this new era that is coming. But what I do understand somewhat, and in which I now have over a quarter-century of experience, successes, and hard falls, and still see meaning in, is the world of business development, marketing, and management. And so I thought: what better school for my son's life than our collaboration and joint venture? For me as a father, it's a way to pass on the best of myself to my son – how to dream, plan, and create, to learn to overcome obstacles, to fall and get back up, not to give up, and to take his future into his own hands and not let it be taken from him.
And so, since that walk, we began working on it together – step by step, slowly, gradually. I, alongside my main activity as an interim manager in the B2B energy sector, and Marcel, alongside preparing for his CERMAT exams at the end of primary school. Marcel came up with the name Velvetto, and I designed the logo. We chose packaging for the fragrances, arranged manufacturers and suppliers, selected the first perfumes, chose and set up the first systems, ERP, warehouses, production processes, built the first version of the e-shop, and established communication channels. And now here we are, father and son, a business strategist with experience and a young man full of energy, who want to create something together, learn together, and from each other. Of course, Marcel is still at an age where there are certain legal limits to his involvement in business, but he can observe and help with many things and learn a lot. And besides hard skills, he can learn what is extra necessary for young people today – discipline, focus, responsibility, decency, and diligence – these will certainly be useful in life, no matter what times may come.
And so here we stand today, ready to bring you the best fragrant experience. Because we believe in Velvetto, and we believe that quality personal fragrance and confidence should be smart, practical, and accessible to everyone today.
I wish you a beautiful fragrant day.
